Shark Fin Melon at the Vegetable & Fruits Market in Kundasang, Sabah

I simply find the Kundasang market fascinating if you want to see Malaysian or Asian fruits – guava, pink guava, lime, mandarins, mango, giant mango, buah tarap, durian, sour sop, strawberries, longan, etc.

There are also flowers, local delights, honey, mushrooms, tomatoes, cauliflowers, and many other kinds of vegetables…

Cucurbita ficifolia at the Vegetable & Fruits Market at Kundasang, SABAH.

The greenish thing which I’m holding in my hands is a kind of squash, melon or pumpkin… Many chinese like to call it Shark Fin Melon (鱼翅瓜) or just wintermelon of a certain kind. Cucurbita ficifolia is the actual scientific name.

Vietnamese Food in Sabah – Peppermint Restaurant

Last week I was feeling great, so I decided to try some Vietnamese Cuisine…

We were at Peppermint Restaurant, at Karamunsing Capital – a nice place to hangout for some good food and drinks. Peppermint Restaurant has another branch at Gaya Street too.

Just like most asian dishes, they serve rice with a variety of vegetable dishes, chicken and beef.

The dish above is their Spicy Chicken Rice. I find it quite delicious. If you enjoy chicken, they also have Steam Chicken Rice, Chicken Noodle Soup and Stuff Chicken Wing.

Thai Style Grass Jelly and Vietnamese Coffee…

They call this “Bun Ga” or Chicken Cold Vermicelli and Spring Roll. Something special…

They also serve Pho, Banh Mi Bo Kho, Bun Bo, Cha Gio & Cam Ga Don… Hahaha, if you don’t know Vietnamese you have to go there to figure that out. Okay la.. most of them are servings with Beef…

So try it out if you’re in Sabah – Peppermint Restaurant, where you can get A Taste of Vietnam.
